Holiday Shopping

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

There’s still some time left if you’re in Vancouver to come grab a gift or two, but today marks the last day for shipping if you’re not super local…. I’d hate for your gift to not arrive in time, so please bear this in mind with any purchases made in my online shop over the next couple days.

The studio is still open daily from 12-7pm until Dec 22. There’s still a good bunch of stock to choose from, and our exchange policy is simple: If they don’t love it, they can switch it for anything in the studio, or I’ll make something.

On December 23rd, I’ll be done for the holidays, but you can always email me:  janna@astrosatchel.com  and we can figure out exchanges/orders etc. Thanks a bunch! Janna

More stuff on ETSY

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Hey Everybody, I’ve just added a bunch of new stuff to my ETSY shop, including a whack of Medium Totes in combinations not previously available  online…. So now there’s even more great combinations to agonize over. Which one will it be, they’re all really good!!

I also recently delivered more goodies to our friends at Karmavore in New Westminster. You can grab a snack from the all vegan deli as well as a new bag, which to me sounds perfect: vegan one stop shopping at it’s finest!!

You can always make an appointment to shop at the studio if you don’t see what you want elsewhere, and if I don’t have it in stock, I can always make it. Just remember to book an appointment before heading down to the studio, I’m in and out of the studio these days and I wouldn’t want to miss you.

Happy Shopping!! XO Janna

Thanks ETSY!!

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

I got to the studio late today, which happens more than I would like to admit…. There’s always a bunch of email to respond to, and my daily email from ETSY, which I actually look forward to (unlike the onslaught I get from Herman Miller, DKNY and Burberry). But today on ETSY’s mailout, I saw something I totally recognized: one of my Friday purses!! Yay!!

Check it out for yourself!!

Fall is in the Air

Friday, September 10th, 2010

It feels like fall is in the air, but we’re ready for it. Check out my new crop of bags, just in time for the Fall season…..

stitched carbonation

I’m a total doodler, I’m not afraid to admit it. If I’m stuck on hold, I usually doodle something similar to this STITCHED CARBONATION, because you can just kinda start in the corner and work your way out adding as you go.

stitched forest

The STITCHED FOREST makes me think of visiting my Grandmother’s farm, and the time I’ve spent wandering around Stanley Park here in Vancouver. Trees are a favorite theme around here, but I’m really loving the ghostlike qualities of this incarnation.

stitched lava

STITCHED LAVA, reminds me of Science and Nature shows when they show lava flowing and cooling, but sadly without the David Attenbourough narration. It also makes me wonder what I did with my lava lamp….

stitched sketching

Art was always my favorite subject in school, so when I started this collection, I wanted it to have a very hand drawn feel. Sometimes I feel like more of an artist than a designer, but most of the time I’m stuck behind the sewing machine, which is why I’ve offered up my STITCHED SKETCHING bag…. see, it all comes full circle eventually.

stitched pigeon

When I moved to the West End a year ago, I started noticing pigeons, pigeons and more pigeons. I love how they move, how they don’t fly off, but prefer to waddle away. As a tribute to the urban icon, I’m offering this STITCHED PIGEON tote in a very appropriate (and new) shade called Concrete.

spell it out

For those of you who aren’t sure, allow me to SPELL IT OUT…… I suppose if you’re on here, you already know, but there are people who ask me “What’s an Astrosatchel?” I also love the fact that people may still not get it, and that’s okay. They can buy Coach or something.

PS— If you’ve fallen in love with something here, you can buy it as shown from my online shopping section and have it shipped to your door asap. I’ll be opening the studio Saturday afternoons shortly, for your shopping pleasure as well, please join my mailing list to make sure you hear about all the stuff we’ve got planned for the fall season. Colour your world!!

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

whiteout

We can all use a bit more colour in our lives these days, so if you’re finding yourself lacking, look no further: OUR SPRING COLECTION IS HERE!! It’s more about colour and shape, rather than specific ‘things’ so let your inner minimal-modernist out and put some colour back in your life. Everything is available now in my online shopping store, check it out!!

fireworks-1

STITCHED FIREWORKS — I’m loving this random combination of stitching and colours right now, which to me look like fireworks, but could really be just about anything, which is the real wonder of modernism!!

hyacinth-1

HYACINTH — this has a certain gum-ball feel to it, but without the 5 second sugary sweetness followed by the remorse of having wasted a quarter on something that now tastes like nothing.

jadeplant-1

JADE PLANT — A perennial favorite houseplant, brought to life in vivid brights, no need to water.

modblobs-1

MOD BLOBS — I’m loving this very organic looking applique, which reminds me of 70′s curtains  and garden pavers all at once.

seagull-1

SEA GULL — this makes me think of my daily walks along the sea wall in Coal Harbour, watching the birds and boats and feeling the wind in my hair, while praying that I don’t get pooped on by one of the birds.

sprouts-1

SPROUTS — I always love when they show time lapse videos of seeds sprouting into plants, don’t you? I like the modern form on this bag too, satisfying both my love of nature and simple forms all at once.

wheat-1

WHEAT — inspired in part by the wheat emblazoned freight cars that pass beneath my studio window, and 80′s patchwork leather purses. Feather clip not included….

Let me know what you think of everything, and I’ll be in touch again soon with open studio details. Bye for now, and enjoy!! XO Janna

villagepeople

Sorry it’s been a while, I’ve had my head in the clouds recently with lots on the go this month ….. here’s the highlights:

I’ve added NEW FALL ITEMS to our online shopping: new bags, cashmere scarves to keep you warm, oven mitts to keep you cool, and there will be more to come as the holiday season approaches…..

I’ve been sending stuff far and near: Militant Penguin on Main Street, Tartooful (now at 3183 Edgemont Blvd in North Vancouver), Naka in Ferndale, Michigan, Cherry Blossom Boutique in Kaslo BC, and Whirled Arts in Victoria BC.

I’m getting the studio ready for the Holiday show season, first up is Eastside Culture Crawl in November (20,21,22) so if you’re planning a trip to Vancity, that’s a really great weekend to check out the city, particularly what’s happening here in the  Eastside area arts scene. There will be more shows to come, but one thing at a time!!  XO Janna
